Based
on our 2053 class discussions and my research into the Future Center and
Paralympics i can reflect on how people can be better integrated into society
in these ways people with
disabilities are human like us and they should be treated the same as we are,
in the past people use to hide their children that have disabilities
and where not proud of having them , but now that changed there have a big role
in society, they work and go out and participate in a lot of things,
such as festivals and they volatile in some events and do a
great job in it. I don't see that they are different from
us, maybe they have Congenital malformation but they still can do good
jobs like normal people, as a fact i have a cousin that has Down
syndrome, but he smart and a great kid, he has trouble in
absorbing information, talking in an understandable way and imbalance in walking but in the end
he does understand. In the beginning it was hard for his family and that is because they didn't know how to
deal with him, but now everyone in the family likes him and like to play with him,
it became easy to handle him, not that easy but better than when he
was first born. Unfortunately when
he was first born they kept hiding him and we never saw him for approximately
three years, which I think that is wrong and they shouldn't of done that, but now they realized that
there is nothing wrong with him and he plays with the small kids like an ordinary kid. Now he is a part of the family like everyone else.

What does it mean to be Emirati? : Reflective log #1
What does it mean to be Emirati?
Emirat is a word derivative from the word Emarah, wich is in arabic, Emarah means a city, state or a region. The Arabic language is a one language which comes from the Quran, then we have a lot of dialects, which are different from each tribe and city. Emirati people and the people from the gulf all wear the same clothing but in different designing which is called the Kandoorah, and another thing that we wear is the Getrah or u could call it Shmag. Emiratis and Omanis have a unique way in wearing the Shmag, unlike other Gulf States. This way is mostly common for young boys. We have something called the Bisht which is usually worn in celebrations and weddings, its like a rowb but its black and there are other colloers but black is the most common. We have a lot of traditions such as falconry, camel racing, folk dance in it's various branches and racing boats. All Muslims are the same, its one religion and with the same rules, there is no diffidence between an Emrati Muslim or an Indian Muslim, But there is a diffidence in the woman's clothing, its different from a country to another, but its the same between us and people in the gulf and its called Shaila and Abaya.
